I was transported from home in mid-town Little Rock to Baptist Hospital on 6-29 (Run #24-52456) for back spasms. The medic team that took me were very professional and so helpful. I know, to them - who see so much carnage, that I was just another old man with a sore back, but they treated me like I was a VIP and the most important thing they would do that day! I was scared and in excrutiating pain and they honored my situation, were careful, and comforting. The young lady fully explained what I could expect upon arrival and I was terrified that they were going to try to put me in a wheelchair since there was no way I could sit up. She told me that once they got me there, their authority stopped. When we arrived, she went inside, and then they put me on a bed in an exam room! I understand that case load and severity sometimes make such considerations impossible, but I also KNOW that she advocated on my behalf and I wish I could express to her personally how grateful I am and how much that meant to me. I felt helpless and she made me feel as if I had an ally and I haven't forgotten it! That medic team is a credit to the MEMS organization and I'm so grateful that they were the ones to come when I needed help Thomas B.
